The way each face is a slightly different version
of the ones around it,
like different coins of the same currency.
Tito Luis, the nickel, with his broad nose and chiseled cheekbones.
Lolo, with his quarter-like profile,
having brought his family to liberty in America,
gazing, a bit troubled, like George Washington into the future.
And so on and so forth
till we get to the pennies, the children,
plentiful yet dissimilar to what their currency denotes,
crowded around the others,
faces upturned to all that surrounds them
in the pocket of our home.
